Workshop Overview
Technology is changing quickly. New AI models and tools appear every few months. They are changing how we work, how we communicate, and how we make decisions.
Yet many professionals are still asking fundamental questions:
- Which tools should I use?
- How do ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini actually work?
- Why do they sometimes give answers that are wrong?
- How do I get better results?
- How do I use AI without handing over my own judgment?
- Where do I start?
The Certified Augmented Work Professional (CAWP–I)™ or CAWP™ Level 1 is a professional certification designed to help you confidently understand, apply, and collaborate with today’s intelligent technologies so you can work more effectively while keeping human judgment, critical thinking, and responsible decision-making at the center.
This is not a programming course. You will not write code. You will learn how to direct work done with systems, how to judge what they produce, and how to stay accountable for the result.
That practice has a name. We call it Augmented Work™.
Practical Outcomes
CAWP–I™ equips you with practical capabilities you can apply immediately to your everyday work.
You will be able to use AI systems to:
- Draft emails, reports, presentations, and business documents
- Research and synthesize information more effectively
- Read and make sense of documents and data
- Think through ideas and find other options
- Work faster without lowering quality
- Judge what a system gives you instead of accepting it
Most importantly, you will learn when to trust a system and when not to.
What Makes This Course Different?
Many AI courses teach tools. Others teach programming.
CAWP–I™ teaches something more enduring: the discipline of Augmented Work.
Technology will continue to evolve. Today’s models will eventually be replaced by better ones.
The principles of sound judgment, critical thinking, responsible augmentation, and effective collaboration with technology will remain.
The course is built on The Augmented Work Guide™, published by Teal Agility. The Guide is free to read and free to share. It is the main source for the certification exam, and we recommend reading it before you attend.
You’ll leave not simply understanding today’s tools, but developing capabilities that remain valuable long after today’s technology has changed.
What can I expect to gain from this course?
- Earn the CAWP-I™ credential. Pass the assessment and earn the Certified Augmented Work Professional (CAWP-I)™ credential.
- Understand the Foundations of Augmented Work – Build a systematic understanding of modern intelligent technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI, Large Language Models, and their role in professional work.
- Work Effectively with Intelligent Technologies – Understand how modern language models such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini generate responses, and learn how to collaborate with them effectively.
- Better results from the systems you already use. Practical ways to write instructions that produce useful output.
- Effective Prompt Engineering – Identify AI limitations such as hallucinations, context windows, and reasoning boundaries.
- A working knowledge of AI agents. What they are, what they are good for, and where they should not be used.
- A way to use AI responsibly. Fairness, privacy, honesty, and knowing which decisions a person must keep.
Workshop Outlines
Module 1: The practice of Augmented Work
How to keep human judgment in charge of work that systems increasingly help perform. This module gives you the framework the rest of the day builds on, and it is the main subject of the certification exam.
Key topics
- What Augmented Work means
- Deciding what to hand to a system, and what to keep
- Matching how much you check to what is at stake
- What you still answer for
- Where augmentation ends and automation begins
Module 2: AI and generative AI foundations
Build a clear understanding of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and generative AI. See how AI has developed, separate fact from myth, and find where it creates real value at work.
Key topics
- AI and machine learning
- Narrow AI and general AI
- The rise of generative AI
- Text, image, audio and video generation
- Facts, myths, and business uses
Module 3: Understanding large language models
Understand how today’s leading AI systems work. Learn what tokens are, how these systems predict text, what they cannot do, and how to choose the right one for a task.
Key topics
- What a large language model is
- Tokens and prediction
- Open weight and closed source models
- Thinking mode and deep research
- Invented facts, context limits, and out of date information
Module 4: Prompt engineering for real work
Learn practical ways to get better output. Write clear instructions, structure them well, and apply them to real work: writing, summarising, research, and pulling data out of documents.
Key topics
- What prompt engineering is
- System instructions and user instructions
- Worked examples and structured prompts
- Writing, summarising and extracting data
- Checking output quality
Module 5: AI agents and agentic AI
Understand the difference between chatting with a system, running a fixed sequence of steps, and giving an agent a goal. Learn the four steps every agent runs, where agents work well, and where they create risk.
Key topics
- Three ways of getting work done with systems
- The four steps an agent runs
- What agents are good for, and what they are not
- Keeping agents inside safe limits
- Where to go next: developer path or power user path
